Ok, got an update. That Retro filter from the 70/80's sounded like a 4 banger on its way out. So i found a pair of whisper 60's for free. And i currently am using 2 150 watt heaters till i can afford new stuff.
here is the tank now. lids and lights going on tomorrow hopefully.

Re: So what predator should i get next?
hey looks nice man. I love those whisper power filters I dont care what anyone ever says about them filters to me they compete with any filter on the market. I have several whisper power filters one on my 55 gallon oscar tank and its been on the tank as long as I have had the fish. anyhow your setup is looking nice and a jack dempsey would be nice in there instead of the oscar

Re: So what predator should i get next?
yeah, i couldnt get one of my 150watts to shut off. So then i decided not to go cheap with the heater. I am happy with the 2 whisper 60's. I am picking up 2 glass lids tomorrow for $15 each. After that i am just gonna clip a work light over the tank for a little light, and i will be done. Cycling takes too long

Nice, I have 5 juvy JD's right now in with a do jo loach and a rainbow shark. Going to wait a while and hopefully get a breeding pair. Get rid of the others. They are beautiful fish.
Very nice stand for the price as well.

There are actually 4 cory cats in there too with him which was a little rough at first. He ate one of them about 3 times in a matter of seconds but kept spitting it out. The cory is fine, it was very strange, now he doesnt even look at them. I think he thought the cory cat was a piece of food. lol

Re: So what predator should i get next?
well, not to bum anyone out, but it bummed me out. The JD escaped from the tank and died on the floor. The poor bastard jumped through a 1.5" wide hole where the filter was hanging. I didnt even think that small space would be an issue for a fish that size. Oh well, not much i can do now.
