So what predator should i get next?

I picked up a 55gal over the weekend. The wife wont let me do anything with it until this summer. So i have a couple months to do some research. I am currently building the stand for it now. here is a cell pic of the stand as of 1 hour ago.

So i have another saturday of work left to do on it. But what should i fill it with. I like trying different fish. Currently i have exo's, convicts, and a piranha. I want something that wont grow out of it. So many decisions. confused

oh, i am keeping the bottom of the stand open, it is going to house a 30 gal tank.

what about a red hi-fin wolf fish? you'll be able to house it in te 55g for live.
If my wife lets me keep me 55g that's what I'll be getting.

I like both suggestions, I am into cichlids. Only prob with oscar is my wife thinks they are ugly and she has a little say in the fish. I told her i would give her a list of fish and she could pick a fish from the list for the tank. I had to make a deal to get it :)

pfft, she's got enough. She actually liked the idea when i told her i am gonna put my 30 gal underneath the 55gal.

I am actually eventually gonna put a 40gal under it. And she was fine with that idea. All about space saving. lol

Carpintis would be nice,..Escondido that is vs. regular
Texas,..ya, if they are driving distance that would be
sweet,..otherwise $600 order just to have them ship???

Avg cost would be $12.50,..i know when Jeff had some, i grabbed one,
which was an amazing looking cichlid,..too bad my Trimac ate him:(

very nice looking fish. My wife really like the look of blue jack dempsey's. Will a pair of them do ok in a 55gal by themselves besides a few bottom feeders and a pleco?

she saw this pic and really liked the way they look. I like them too, i just dont like their price tag.

Yeah, they would do nice in a 55g,..a little tight,..but i think
if you left it mostly a planted tank they would do fine,..they
say Blue Dempseys tend to be less aggressive,..but i suppose that
varies fish to fish,..also said they can reach 10''s,..but i think
they grow closer to 8''s,..As far as finding a male & female,..The
male has a longer and more pointed dorsal fin than the female. The
male may also have a round black spot in the center of the body and
at the base of the tail. The female has fewer spots than the male.
If nothing else, venting is allways a sure way to tell. Found this
pic,..one to show the better half as well,..Nice choice btw!!

well, its not a set choice yet, she liked the pic, but they dont seem to be as common as just a normal JD. But i am still going to go check out those carpintis and see what they want for them.
