I think the dying of "any" animal is terrible too. It is also an unhonest way of getting people to buy very pretty/colorful fish only to have the color disappear when it wears off. Plus I don't see how the dying chemicals can be healthy for the fish.

chemicals are just plain ignorant. I would never ever support these people for doing such things. I think its really cruel and just is plain out insane.

I personally don't like that tattooing of the fish myself. They dye the fish and then when the dye wears off people don't want them no more. They probably the just get flushed down the toilet. I was also watching a thing on Animal Planet were they used to kill alligator gar just too cut down the numbers. Well, they cut them down alright. Now there trying to increase them now. Some peeps have some great ideas confused . It's getting harder and harder to find them, especially the larger ones. Cause they killed them off years ago, and the few that survived isn't old enough to be a record catch.

Fish have enough to go through with there forever changing habitat. What gives people the right to interfere even more.
    confused confused confused

To me its very very sad, But its all about making a buck anymore. From dying fish to a lfs telling a beginner awww yea you need this, this and that. Than let the customer go hog wild or fish that shouldn't be mixed or will out grow the tank in less than a year. Don't get me wrong everyone is feeling the pinch and store are struggling but don't harm our hobby nor wildlife just to stay afloat. People wonder why and complain why the price of fish jump up or stores can't get them anymore or state ban them. I Wonder why !!

Very true, the same argument was made regarding hybrids some time back, now
cross/line breeding is more acceptable than it used to be, there are even community
boards to support them,..i hope the same isn't true for dying/coloring of fish,..

Same here,..Stopped by the grandparents place the other day to see how their
90g is doing (one i set them up with) and sure as shit theres 3 blood parots
swimmin arround that look goofy as hell,..haha,..she said she just had to have
em,..i thought to myself,.."Yeah thats why dying of fish and hybrids will not
likely stop anytime soon,..many, many other people feel the same way about just
having to have them". I gotta admit though,..as goofy as they look, they do have
alot of personnality,..kinda reminded me of an Oscar's.
