    RES

    Post by Mamaw6 on Mon 06 Apr 2009, 18:08

Right now I have them in a 55 gallon tank. I have recently removed my 2 larger turts from my Oscar tank (also a 55 gallon) because Oscar is getting an attitude and was trying to eat everybody in his tank except for the pleco. All 4 turts are together/happy and doing great. 2 larger turts are too big for Oscar to eat so he was biting at their feet.
Turtles names: Shelly-largest and I'm thinking a female
Crush-same age as Shelly but much smaller/male?
Spotless-has no red spot on head
Tiny-same age and size as Spotless but still too small to guess what gender
I also have 2 dogs: Cuddles-5 yr.old multi mix male
    Daisy-1 yr. old female Chihuahua
1 female cat named Miss Kitty-just turned 15 yrs. old
    1 husband
    3 grown children
    6 grandkids
    Full, active home!!! lol!

    wow,

you actually had turtles in with oscars? wow I would be so afraid to try that the turtle would chew em up. I have heard of people keeping smaller fish with turtles with no problems at all. I personally would never try to house turts with no fish I would just be to afraid

lol sounds like you have a house full thats for sure. another member on here shes a mod "crabby-girl" shes got a cat named miss kity as well.

My turtles are not full grown-They have a long way to go and Oscar also is not through growing. I obviously keep a close eye on both my turtles and fish. Oscar is the larger one at this time but in time that will change dramaticly. My Oscar will not let any smaller fish in the tank with him. He "loves" the smaller fish. Loves to eat anybody he can cram in his mouth!

Yes I got them at Lowes for $3.48 a bag. It only took a little over 1 bag. I got 2 because I thought it would take more but that's ok-I'm not complaining! They had a lot of sand on them so I did have to rinse them off first. They're called Egg stones. These rocks also made the tank brighter. I love it!

    Hey,

I went got the river rock and put it in my tank it looks real real nice. I will get picture soon to show you. I am glad I switched out from them small pebbles. I like how them big river rocks look in there. I picked it up from Lowes here and yep your right theres quite a bit of sand in there but it was not that bad to deal with.
