I'm at my witts end. I'm never buying another damn fish from the lps. While I had my angel eggs in hospital tank-10 gallon I picked up 2 more silver dollars so they'd be in a school of 4. Well I wish that I wouldn't of done that. Got the damn ICK. I know it's common. I've been treating my tank w- ICK CURE 2.(safe for scaleless fish) Doing the water changes and all. Have a masters tests kit check my water once weekly it's fine. I have treated the tank enough to were they should not have anymore ick. They still have a trace of it(on some of the fish)and my male swordtail his his top fins are frayed.(never had this problem) I lost my clown knife that I wanted forever.
I about to go :x . I was thinking that since I've tried the ick treatment that I would drain most of the tank and treat it w/fish zole(Metronidazole tabs). I've read that it is safe for most scaleless fish. I don't know what the hell to do. Please if you can help me and my fish would really appreciate it.

Re: HELP 911!!!
My recommendation is to discontinue use of chemicals,..
raise the temp above 75deg,..add aquarium salt per the directions and maintain the salt bath for up tob 10 days even if the spots go away,.keep an eye on ur water params,..
you may have to do small changes daily even though the chemical you used says not to,..
After you've cured their ick,..you may use Melafix to
repair any frayed fins,..

Re: HELP 911!!!
Remember any time you raise the temp in your tank it's
important that you have adequate surface agitation to
release gases and keep your water oxygenated,..

Re: HELP 911!!!
Didn't really want to use salt--kills snails but I will if can't find better cure. Temp steady at 82 usually 80 steady raised it already--bubblers running and keeping intake tube clean--been doing atleast 1/4 water change everyday. Fish seem to be getting better but not wanting to continue w/ the ick med--never had to this long
...how often should I check water params while there being treated? Thought about using python and cleaning gravel--but thought that might stress them out more.
Love to see that website!! Never had an ick problem like this before it's like ick on steroids.
Thanks Cam

Re: HELP 911!!!
Don't do any gravel cleaning as using chemical cures are
hard on your cycle,..thus the need for frequent small water
changes,..during any treatments to my tanks (if at all possible
i do not use chemicals) i check water params daily,..this website
has alot of info, but nothing to help anymore than what we know
in regards to ick,..http://www.gbasonline.org/disease_chart.htm
you may have to lose a few snails in the end using a salt bath,
but it's much better than dumping chemicals in your tank,..your choice,..

Re: HELP 911!!!
I'm gonna go with the salt baths--hate to loose the snails but I only need one to survive. On the up side there empty shells will look pretty cool.(they wont be hiding in the gravel)

Exactly what I told her to avoid chemicals at all costs and use the "heat salt method"although I would raise the temps to around 80 degrees and use a bubbler. She told me that she didnt wanna wipe out her snails.
