Size: 50 cm from claw to claw.

The immense Coconut Crab (or Robber Crab) is the largest terrestrial arthropod on earth, (Grub 1971). They have been found to attain weights in excess of 5kg (Fletcher &amp; Amos 1994) and can span over 50cm from claw to claw, (Reyne 1939). They are very powerful creatures and have vastly strong pincers. These ‘chelae’ can easily cut through an ordinary broom handle, (Johnson 1965).

			<description>I was doing a partial water change and one of my female fiddler crabs jumped right out.  I was looking every where for her.  Movin curtains and all.  Marvin, a friend of mine noticed Miss Kitty was playing with some thing in the kitchen.  Miss Kitty had the fiddler crab playing with her. :shock:   Instead of him getting the fiddler from her he hollers at me.  What a dumb ass. The Crab from 50 Fathoms



A rare species of deep-sea crab, normally found at depths of up to three kilometres, has been hauled up in the nets of a Cornish fisherman. 



The Giant Box Crab was caught 75 miles west of Padstow at a depth of 50 fathoms (100 metres) by skipper John Walsh on his boat &quot;Charisma&quot;.



Believed to be Britain's largest crab species, the giant box crab can reach lengths of up to two metres.
