This is a quick over view on how to build a sump. I already cut out all my pieces.

Your sump will be set up for your needs so no two sumps are the same.

Here's a pic of the sump: I used a little over 1 .220 thick acrylic sheet 18x24 and a 10 gallon tank with black trim removed from the top. (Trim removed till completed.)

10 gallon with all the chambers dry fit with tape to hold them in place.

from above: In this pic you can see all the chambers. Starting from left to ...

I will try to get the common bulkhead sizes and bits need to drill the holes.

Also a write up on how to do it and what other material you can use.

DIY Undergravel Jets

Has anyone have any experience with under gravel Jets?

They keep debris off the subtrate by moving water out the jets and push all debris towards the filter. I'm thinking about making one for my 280 gallon tank. I'm just not to sure on the size of pump i should run.

Here is a couple links on it.

This shows you a pic of the undergravel jets.

i'd like to share a filtration idea which has been working very well for me for several years now,on a smaller scale.and ive found that these are good enough to be the primary filter on most tanks.

ive made this one bigger coz the size of tank which it goes in is a lot bigger, the basic design is quite simple

the prob is not with the design,it should work well in theory

but even if your tank is quite big, where do you hide that 10 inch thick ugly pvc pipe?? in ponds its ok,but in an indoor ...

Here a quick guide on setting up a sump so it doesn't over flow when the power goes out.

Ok, first set everything up the way its going to sit. The pipes or hoses from your overflows, bulkheads, or HOB overflow box should be set along with your water return. With your tank filled to the level you plan on running it at (ALL THE TIME) and your sump (EMPTY) plus your overflows turned off so no water can run down them. Place your return pump in the sump if its a submersible one or have your external ...
