Thinking about setting up a saltwater tank

I've been thinking of setting upa saltwater tank. I have never had a saltwater tank before. I would like to setup a reef tank with some dangerous/venomous predator fish. Any advice on setting something like this up? I'm thinking about a 100 to 150 gallon minimum tank.

Mantis shrimp, kewl pet if housed solo.

Well, I think I am going to set up or finish my 20H Nano build. Not sure of just how I am going to set everything up yet though. For now: 1 - 175 watt 14k MH 20H Tank 1 - Maxi-jet 400 -- not sure what else yet for water movement 15-20lbs of baserock mixed with liverock 20lbs of sand - leaning toward black right now debating if I want to run a close-loop on this one or not No skimmer and probably no sump. --- (Not needed on a Nano) some will debate this thou. Some Pictures tank is finally comeing around since the new light pick up 8x54w t-5 setup. Took about a solid 3 months now to get everything healthy again. When i was laid off i lost alot due to my old 4 bulb setup bulbs went old low on par. Had no cash at the time so i picked up this fixture.

Anyone Use individual reflectors? MY new light setup didn't come with individual reflectors but one big reflector under the 8 t5 bulbs.

Are individ. reflectors a big difference in using a single reflector?

I just got a killer deal on a brand new one of these. For my reef tank been wanting to get a 8bulb setup and get some clams anyone have any personal experience with this fixture?

I currently have a 4 bulb setup. Should i be nice to my corals and just run half the bulbs at first on the new fixture or full on swap it and whats the easiest way to not stress out stuff but keep everyone happy?

Well fella's I am like 2 years in to having my salt setup and last weekend I picked up some small pants to plant in the corner of the tank. I seen some weird brown hair algae forming on the rock just above where i planted the plants never had anything like this before and have only added the plants so im thinking it was on them or something? Hello Gentz, A anyone have a marine setup? I don't have any at this time, but I am working on setting one up again soon. I (had) a 220 FOWLR, 120 REEF, and a 75 full reef. Heres a few pics of some of my old systems. Enjoy..
